![]() Jonathan Seaman-26 years old 5'-9" 167 lbs. Before 162 lbs. After To be honest, you were kind of an underdog here Jonathan. I don’t think many people were betting on you to win. Based upon what you were hearing and seeing from the other competitors during the contest, did you actually think you had a shot at winning? I will admit, I did a good amount of banter with the other contestants for the sake of good old fashioned competitiveness but I never actually expected to win. More than anything else, my motivation was to prove to myself that I could accomplish something if I set my mind to it and winning has been ice on the cake! What was the single most important variable that enabled you to make such a dramatic transformation?
Without a doubt, nutrition played the greatest role in my transformation. Keith’s nutritional guidance played a principal role in shaping and influencing my nutritional habits. He introduced me to MyFitnessPal, an application on your phone that makes tracking your food almost effortless. Recording and monitoring my nutritional intake made a world of a difference! What was your biggest vice or challenge along the way that could have derailed your chances of winning? Drinking! As a bartender, I’m immersed in the alcohol world 4 days per week and resisting alcohol in that setting is like throwing a gambling addict into a casino and telling them to have some “self control.” Initially I tried just a reduction of drinking, but even then I found that my routine would be destroyed for at least two days after a night out. As a result, foregoing alcohol altogether is the best approach. It’s impossible to feed and train your body when you’re not at 100% Now that you’ve seen through the 6 weeks of sacrifice, is there anything that you would have done differently along the way? I would have been even more diligent with my routine. There is always room for improvement and I succeeded for the most part, but it is the perfectionist in me that knows had every day been ideal I’m sure my results would have been even more dramatic. What is the biggest take away for you from this 6-week physique transformation contest? JFor me, this contest proved that a significant physique change could be achieved in a limited period of time..assuming you’re willing to make the sacrifices to get you there. Having seen such great results, I now feel even more motivated to continue pushing towards my ultimate goal of being a Las Vegas Chippendales dancer (kidding!). What advice do you have for a person who has been stuck at a plateau and wants to take their physique to the next level? Quite frankly, examine their diet and sleeping habits. Many of the fitness/physique roadblocks I’ve come across in the past were self-inflicted. You have to fuel your body and get adequate rest if you’re training hard. Even though you look great now, I have to ask, what fitness and physique goals does Jonathan Seaman have for himself going forward? Well, right now I have a lot of momentum going for me from the contest and I want to feed off of that as long as possible. Eventually I would like to be at my starting weight for this contest but with the same percent of body fat that I currently have. So I’d say I have another 7 or 8 lbs. of dense muscle that I’d like to add.
